Welcome back to my newsletter this month!
Growing up in Massachusetts, I was spoiled with the leaves changing into the most magnificent hues during October. It isn't quite the same in Pennsylvania, but I do appreciate all of the festive fall and pumpkin themed decorations in my neighborhood and around the city.
In past years, I'm usually traveling abroad and miss the majority of the fall festivities and foliage. I am thrilled to have an east coast fall this year to appreciate and enjoy my favorite season.
Fall Activities I've Enjoyed So Far This Year (and highly recommend):
- Apple picking at an orchard and then baking something delicious (I made apple crisp)
- Finding a pumpkin patch and choosing fall decorations (I love a mix of mini-pumpkins and gourds)
- Going on a hay ride - still fun as an adult!
- Enjoying apple cider donuts (if you can find them safely and otherwise trying a recipe that works for your allergies)
- Taking a walk or hike to see a stunning view of the leaves changing color
I hope this gives you some ideas to start enjoying the season! There is so much to explore and it doesn't have to be food-focused.
Now, I have something very special to share below and it involves you, so please check it out!
If you have any questions or have topics that you would like to hear about in the future, please feel free to reply to this email.
Happy Fall,
I'm a Finalist - But I need
YOUR Help
I’m excited to share some news with you! I've been named a finalist for the Travel Unity Awards!
Travel Unity recognizes organizations and individuals making travel more inclusive. To be considered alongside others working toward accessibility and equity in travel is truly an honor. For me, this recognition reflects the years I’ve spent helping people with food allergies feel empowered to see the world safely, while also working to educate the travel industry.
Here’s where I need your help: part of the award is based on community voting, and your vote could make a big difference. If my work has supported you, inspired your travels, or
helped you feel less alone navigating food allergies, I’d be so grateful if you could take a moment to vote.
Thank you for being part of this journey with me, from the very beginning of my blog in 2008 to today. I wouldn’t be here without this community, and I’m so grateful to have your support.

JUST FOR YOU:
The start of the school year can bring many challenges, including dining out...
Socially it can be an exciting time to connect with old friends and make new ones. But, that also means that food is often involved in plans.
If that is something you are struggling with - I've got you! After living with severe food allergies my entire life, dining out all over the world and learning the best, safest ways to do it, I know what will help be a game-changer.
I’ve bundled two of my most helpful resources to make it easier to eat safely and confidently: the Mini Chef Card Course, which helps you create a clear, professional card to communicate your food allergies directly to the kitchen, and my Digital Resource for Calling Restaurants Ahead, a step-by-step guide to make sure your allergies are understood before you arrive and once you are there. Together, these tools give you confidence, reduce stress, and make dining out safer and simpler. Grab the bundle today and let me know how dining out changes for you!
Fall in New England with Food Allergies
Fall is the perfect time for a New England road trip in the U.S. With food allergies taken into consideration, there are still countless places to visit and explore.
As a New England native who loves fall, I wanted to share my favorite time of year in the Northeast with my Swiss husband. On one trip, we squeezed in over 1,000 miles of driving from Philadelphia where we live, north through upstate New York, Vermont, Maine, New Hampshire, and finally my home state of Massachusetts.
